Gmail scores another win over Outlook

This article show the growing trend to find cool ways to use gmail to automate and make sense of your life. The clipped article talks about adding a voice to text service that sends your audio notes to your gmail account and stores them as part of a “conversation” about your daily activities.

Its got me thinking….

clipped from www.micropersuasion.com

It gets better. If I am on the go, I will write down the notes in a Moleskine and then call my Jott or Callwave number in between meetings. These arrive in my inbox too (either as text or an audio file). Later, when I am back at my computer I append the note to another reply to me and archive the entire conversation thread. Finally, at week’s end I go through all seven notes as part of my weekly review. (The fIgure below is from a weekend - when the review is conducted.)

Once the message arrives, I keep it in my inbox all day. Then, as? take notes, I reply to the email, but change the address to my own. Then as the day goes on, I keep adding to the conversation thread with replies to myself. These all get threaded as a single conversation.

Idea: Live audio feed to welcome site visitors

Seth Godin captures the thoughts of Jon a New Zealander that there is a very real tendency to gravitate to a warm blooded human voice wherever possible. Then I got to thinking….
What if a blogger featured a constant realtime feed to their blog, where a visitors presence was notified to the blogger (by a door open chime like in a store front) and they introduced themselves to the visitor and invited a chat or better still a skype conf… and as soon as the demand exceeded the bloggers capacity to support additional blog concierges could take over… got me thinking… maybe I can get a prototype going… please comment here if you would like to try something like this out… Im willing to do the work if there is enough interest.
