Lake Isabella – Sequoia Forest (130 miles)
At 8:30 a.m. we will start
another unforgettable loop which will take us to the Tobias Point lookout at
8,200 feet elevation.  From this vantage point you will be able to see Mt
Whitney, the tallest mountain in North America.  The ride will take you on
single tracks with tight turns to a secret grove of Sequoias, very remote and
awe inspiring.  Bring a bathing suit and $10, we might visit the California
Hot Springs on our return.  After the major changes in elevation and the
spectacular scenery, you will be ready to relax at the hotel in the evening.

Coalinga Enduro Course 2/3rds of the way from LA to San Jose on the 5

Situated 2/3rds of the way from LA to San Jose on the 5… apparently the area is closed in summer due to a natural asbestos problem that gets in the air when it turns dry…. but looks like fun anyway… as long as its wet.

Slingbox video rebroadcasting

My brother Sky showed me this a while back… a box that takes video input from the devices in your living room and rebroadcasts it over the internet for you to view on your PC… this is a classic application for my Sony UX…. only problem is I wish it could record for me… you can record off the Pro version by sending instructions to the DVR to record but its still on the DVR… maybe if I come back in a few months theyll have a version that records too… even sends to mobile phones!!!

Vi Labs partnering with Us.

Weve spent a while looking at wrapper partners and these guys are really up there. Good solid code and anti hacking strategies… we should go a long way together…

Blind-spot fix for Car side mirrors

I came up with a simple fix for addressing the ongoing problem of side mirror blind spots… see the attached photo… the problem to date is that the only way to see the “blind-spot” (ie the area beside a moving car that most side mirrors cant display) is to place a little spherical bubble mirror some place on the side mirror. The mini mirror is too small to see properly and does not give a clear image of what is beside you… as the example drawing shows, by simply adding an angled extension to the existing side mirror the problem is solved simply and elegantly.. plus its easy to manufacture…. the solution also doesnt change the magnification ratio or depth of field for the driver looking at the mirror. All in all it’s a simple approach that seems not to have been done before.

Underground Cities…

A fascinating read…. vast city underground and all but forgotten in England….
clipped from www.amazon.com
Since the end of the First World War Secret bases were created to hide ammounts
of supplies, but it was at the begining of the Second World War that vast bases
were built. This book is an complete study of all such sites from the central
ammunition depot at Corsham which extended over 200 acres underground holding
over 350,000 tons of ammunition even complete aircraft engine factories were
built underground safe from bombing. Even the countries Art treasures were moved
from London to Wales to central Art Repositories for safe keeping the entrances
then concealed. The book even continues into the Cold War period this detailed
study is a must for anyone interested in the war in Britain.
